The University of Florida College of Medicine opened in 1956 with a complement of medical students and a primarily basic science- pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology- faculty. Over the next several years, especially after the teaching hospital opened, the school added more clinical faculty. The first class of 40 students graduated in 1960- the first class to publish a year book was the graduating class of 1964. The yearbook collection includes multiple copies from a number of years, althought the collection still has gap years.
