These collections are based on newspaper clipping books that were developed in the early years of the Health Science Center- in those years, organizations either collected- by reading papers and cutting out articles themselves- or hired clipping agencies who specialized in reading through a wider range of papers and clipping all relevant articles for the organizations using the service- all articles that mentioned their organization. These clippings were pasted into books and kept to document how the organization was being covered in the press. Clippings were taken from books (which were not good for long term preservation) and put into file folders in archival boxes.
